Birmingham Trees for Life is holding a Community Tree Planting day on Saturday 5th December 2009 at Woodgate Valley Country Park, Bartley Green.

Held in National Tree Planting Week, the event is an opportunity for individuals and families who have sponsored trees to come and plant their own sapling.  This year, it is also part of an exciting national event organised by BBC Breathing Places called ‘Tree O’Clock’ – an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the planting the most trees in one hour in multiple locations.

The event starts at 10.30am at Woodgate Valley Country Park, Clapgate Lane, Bartley Green, with the tree planting taking place between 11.00am and 12 noon.  It is a great opportunity to contribute to Birmingham’s green environment, leave a lasting legacy for future generations, and have fun joining in with a nationwide record-breaking effort.

If you would like to join in, you can find out more about Birmingham Trees for Life, and sponsor a tree, at www.btfl.org.uk . Sponsorship of a tree costs £25, and forms can be downloaded from the site.  You can choose to dedicate your tree to whatever you choose, perhaps a family celebration or in memory of a loved one, and bring family and friends with you to the planting event.
